Seemanchal is a sub region of Mithila region in the Northeastern part of Bihar consisting of four districts – Araria, Purnea, Kishanganj and Katihar. It was one of the backward areas of India. Katihar is a city of Seemanchal and a District of Bihar situated in the eastern part of the state of Bihar in India. It is the regional headquarter of Katihar district. It is one of the larger cities of Bihar & is known all over East India for its highly strategic railway junction.
